2008 PRE-SEASON NEWSLETTER
LAND ACCESS - North Dakota Residents and Non–Residents may hunt private or federal land beginning Opening-Day/Saturday (Oct. 11th). However they cannot hunt “PUBLIC P.L.O.T.S. LAND” until Saturday Oct. 18th; but don’t forget, the season doesn’t end until the first week of January, 2009 … and we’ll keep our 2 houses available until then! We also plan on keeping the main “Convent” building open until around November 10th, 2008.
2007 & 2008 SEASONS – According to the Pheasants Forever regional biologists, the 2007 season in the S.W. North Dakota “Banana-Belt” was possibly the best on record or at least the best since the early to mid 1950’s. Flushing 5,000 or more birds in
a day’s hunt was not uncommon. Since then, they had a mild winter and just the right amount of spring rain. The most conserve-ative estimates predict at least a 20 to 30% increase in bird numbers from 2007 to 2008. With an increasing trend of CRP contracts not being renewed; this will probably be the best bird numbers we’ll ever see in our lifetimes!
*NEW CREDIT(S) POLICY – Beginning with this 2008 season, if you have a change in plans, your deposits and / or payments in full can still be credited for lodging anytime later in the same hunting season; of course based upon availability. However if the 2008 season passes and you did not use your credit, we will automatically send you a Pro-Shop credit certificate that you’ll have to bring back during the following season to redeem. We will no longer be carrying forward credits from season to season. If
you think you have a credit from previous years, please call us to confirm with our records. If not used for lodging during this 2008 season, your converted Pro-Shop credit certificate will be mailed to you sometime in early 2009.
IMPROVEMENTS – We spent hours applying strategically placed rubber bumpers to keep the noise down in closing our solid oak doors against those metal door jams in the main building. We also added luminescent door # signs, so if you’re delayed and can’t check-in until most of our other guests are sleeping; you won’t have to turn on the hall lights to find your room. If you know you’re running late … please call ahead of time to expedite our self check-in system!
HOUSES - As you may know, our 2 houses are next door to each other and conveniently located down the street from the main Tailfeather “convent” building, making for easy access to our pro-shop, lounge, bird cleaning facilities, dog runs, etc. The smaller house sleeps 6 to 7 and the larger house 8 to 11 . . . of course both are fully furnished including complete cooking facilities. The flat rates range from $235.00 to $295.00 per night. Check our web-site for photos and other details.
NEW PRO-SHOP ITEMS - We stock hunting hats, shirts, vests & coats; shooting gloves, golf hats, etc. This year we’ve added a variety of other wildlife items, coffee mugs, beer & shot glasses, and a myriad of gifts to bring home for Christmas. We’ve made exceptional off-season purchases and stocked up on all kinds of men’s and especially lady’s apparel for in and out of the field.
BIRD-CLEANING and TAXIDERMY SERVICES - You can obtain directions to their drop–off sites at our office / pro-shop.
PRIVATE LAND-ACCESS “BULLETIN BOARD” - Upon leaving a deposit to stay with us, we will send you a copy of our exclusive list. This connects you to the local farmers for land access; and with professional guides with dogs, without having to pay outrageous commercial rates. We also added a new one to our list this year. Don’t forget to ask for your Tailfeather Discount!
DISCOUNT COUPONS - There are 4 restaurants within walking distance of the Tailfeather. For the fourth consecutive year, we’ll offer Discount Coupons exclusively available to our guests, that can be redeemed at several of these establishments including, the Scorpion bar and restaurant the Poolside Drive-In.
